Evangelization:

  • Sandy Gordon reported that the Lighthouse Catholic Media continues to be successful, with over 900 CDs sold to this point.
  • She is working with FATA to develop a Welcome Folder for new parishioners.  FATA has offered to provide the folders for free, based on the advertisements that will be sold and placed on the back of the folder itself.

Planning:

  • The bathroom fixtures in the church are being installed by Moxley Plumbing.
  • The sacrarium has yet to be installed.

Social Concerns:

Parish Nurse Program:

  • A Domestic Violence Awareness program was presented to Jr. Spy, SPY, and adult parishioners by three members from Heartly House.  Harry Ford thought the youth responded well. Eight adults attended the presentation in the church.
  • Marybeth thought the Social Worker/Hotline supervisor was excellent.
  • Marybeth hopes to provide a survey in the fall to see what other programs people may be interested in supporting. There may be a possible expense if we use an on-line survey tool (e.g. Survey Monkey)

    • Agreed that instead of trying to submit amounts for the coming year, to hold back some money, ($2000-3000), then person brings request to PC rep for Social concerns, need is brought to the PC for approval, OK given, item bought and reimbursed or check procured for item.
  • Fr. Jason and a few people meet twice a year to disburse funds.

“Haiti Committee”:

  • There has been a “Haiti Committee” formed under the Social Concerns Committee to fundraise for the St. Joseph’s Orphanage in Haiti.
  • One of the ideas of the Haiti Committee is to host a dinner at St. Peter’s to publicize the current conditions in Haiti and the needs of the orphanage.  The invited guests would include pastors, priests, and seminarians from the local area.  The Council advised that Sappington Hall would be available (depending on the dates) for use for the dinners.
  • A fall walkathon is also being planned as a fundraiser for St. Joseph’s Orphanage.  Dorothy Pollock is the person in charge of this effort.

  • The biographies of the potential candidates must be published in the bulletin for three consecutive weeks before the election.

Memorial to be made in Honor of Ed Sadler:

  • Jo Sadler will be moving to Ohio in the coming weeks.  Sandy Gordon was asked to send a card from the Parish Council thanking her for all she has done for the parish.  In appreciation for all that the Sadler family has done for St. Peter’s, the processional candles used during the Stations of the Cross, will be memorialized in Ed’s name.
